Welcome to homebase for The Flexible Flyers and our new CD "Church Of Dreams! Whether you've found us through Reptile House Records, CD Baby or one of our other links or reviews, we're glad you've made it. The positive press and international response to this recording has made all of us here very happy. Everyone has been very cool, and thanks to all our friends, critics and collaborators, we appreciate it!
For the uninitiated, our associate Beowulf Kingsley describes the album like this: "If you took The Beatles, They Might Be Giants and Syd Barrett, smacked 'em all real hard on the back of the head and dipped them in a vat of butterscotch, then turned 'em into a feature length cartoon by the creators of Ren & Stimpy, it would sound like 'Church Of Dreams'...well, maybe a little bit, anyway." Strong words, indeed.
How'd all this happen? Dr. Toddzilla (A.K.A. Todd Perkins, eclectic multi-instrumentalist, A-list Rock/ Blues/Jazz touring and studio bassist, and former street theatre activist / acid casualty / lightshow artist for the MC5 / Krishna Society Sitar player) grew up in the 60's, surrounded by classic Psychedelia and loving it, despite a parallel love of (and subsequent sucess with) other American Roots Music. He put together our group and a CD to sound like his rather unusual dreams...as usual, things turned out completely other than the way he'd planned , beautiful and weird, quite unlike his heroes' music, yet with the incense-flavored memory of them still stirring in the hazy air of his studio. ...
And if you like creative, crazy Psychedelic Pop & Rock, this could be your next favorite CD. Intrigued? Step into our parlor here, read the interviews & articles, check out the sound clips, and come join our alarming evolution...
"The Flexible Flyers are in a type of time warp, with the nine of them sincerely kicking out the irony free 1970s psychedelic funk with zero retro taint...a thoroughly enjoyable album...Perkin's laugh-out-loud lyrics steal the show."
Shaun McCormack,
Splendid Magazine
"This is a peach of a CD, all Psychedelic Whimsy, Funk Rhythms and Fluid Guitar Lines. It's nesting on a borderline between Psych, Whimsy and Jam Band, and is full of constant twists and turns, sometimes reminiscent ot the inhabitants of Planet Gong."
Scott Hamilton,
Zeitgeist Magazine
"Church Of Dreams is a trip from the past straight into the present. Todzilla and his band are a group of entertaining, multitalented players...a whole slew of great songwriting, and Perkins' wonderfully twisted sense of humor throughout."

"I love this CD! I can paint to this..."
Ted Ramsay,
UM Art Professor
"A bit like They Might Be Giants in a friendly demolition derby with all the various bands of the Nuggets Collections..."
John Allen,
Current Magazine
"Smart and funny, sometimes touching, sometimes off-the-wall and over-the-top wierd...a nice ride."
